Women's Cross Country Finish Strong with Huge Improvements on the Year
Collegeville, MN – The Oak Hills Cross Country Team's season came to a close on Friday night with the final meet of the season being run by our Women's Cross Country runners, Isabelle Allex (Osakis, MN) and Nordica Dodge (Freedhem, MN).
The meet capped off what was a rebuilding season for the Wolfpack runners. Interim Head Coach, Randy McKain said that at times he didn't know if there would be a team this year. "At the beginning of the year we had 6 interested people, then there were none. Then we had 2, then 4, and finally 7."
All of the runners that made up the Men's team this season were multi-sport athletes and had to balance their cross country schedules with their other sports. Coach McKain was proud of how the team was able to work through the conflicts of other sports and still maintain and reach their goals.
One of the goals set by Coach McKain for his runners was to have them be equal to or improve their meet times, and no one on the team did this better than Dodge. She difference between her first meet's times to her final meet of the season on Friday was over 3 minutes. Allex also improved her time greatly from the beginning of the season to the end, by shaving off over 4 minutes from her first meet's time to the last.
Coach McKain is incredibly proud of each of the runners on the team this season, and looks forward to hearing about their continued love of running as they go through the rest of the year.
